Monsoon Paddy Cultivation: 65,105 acres cultivated in Chaungzon Township

Regarding the agriculture sector in Mon State, till the end of August, 65,242 acres of monsoon paddy were cultivated in Chaungzon Township of Mon State for food sufficiency and to increase income of farmers – it’s also to produce quality rice and to accelerate plantation of crops that can compete in local and international markets.

In Chaungzon Township, Monsoon paddy is cultivated every year in 42 village-tracts. During 2022, although the Township Agriculture Department planned to cultivate 65,105 acres of monsoon paddy, the number of cultivation acres now is 65,242 acres – 137 more acres than the planned one. Paddy strains mostly cultivated in Chaungzon Township area are Ban Kaung, Kyun Shwe War, Shwe Ta Sote, Paw San Yin and Mee Done.
