New UK leader promises to tackle energy crisis

British Prime Minister Liz Truss said she would "tackle the issues that are holding Britain back" in her first speech as the leader of the country.Speaking outside 10 Downing Street, Truss said she would focus on tackling Britain's energy crisis, struggling economy and overburdened health service.She promised to grow the economy and make the UK an aspiration nation.

Liz Truss, UK Prime Minister said “I will get Britain working again. I have a bold plan to grow the economy through tax cuts and reform. I will cut taxes to reward hard work and boost business-led growth and investment. I will drive reform in my mission to get the United Kingdom working, building and growing.I will take action this week to deal with energy bills and to secure our future energy supply.”

Truss quickly began appointing senior members of her Cabinet. Kwasi Kwarteng becomes the first Black U.K. Treasury chief, and Therese Coffey its first female deputy prime minister.Other appointments include James Cleverly as foreign secretary and SuellaBraverman as home secretary.
