


Residents of the Russian city of St. Petersburg on Saturday commemorated the victims of the Beslan school siege. At least 334 people were killed, including 186 children and more than 1,100 people were held as hostages during the three-day siege carried out by Chechen militants.
The group of 32 militants held the hostages in a school in Beslan for three days before Russian security forces stormed the building with tanks and heavy weapons. A criminal investigation into the terrorist attack in Beslan was opened on September 1, 2004. It's been 18 years and it's still under investigation.
