Residents in the U.S state of Mississippi were preparing for potential flooding after heavy rains hit the state earlier this week. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has deployed 126,000 sandbags to act as water barriers in preparation for flooding.

Experts predict the Pearl River will crest at 10.8 meters on Monday. Authorities in Jackson estimate that 100 to 150 homes could be impacted by Monday night, Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba said.
