People tried to stay cool in Amman on Sunday as Jordan's capital continued to swelter in a heat wave. Many who found themselves outside in the scorching heat sought relief at water fountains and juice shops.

City authorities, meanwhile, deployed trucks to spray a cooling mist in the downtown area of the capital. Temperatures in Amman are expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius over the next several days, the ArabiaWeather said. The heat wave may continue into the "early days of September". "This heat wave is going to be the longest heat wave of this summer in Jordan", the ArabiaWeather warned.
