Civil-Military Cooperation: MoSWRR Held A Meeting On Responding Natural Disaster

The coordination workforce between Tatmataw and the Ministries to respond the natural disaster held its first meeting in the morning at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement on 24 August.

At the meeting, the Union Minister Dr. Thet Thet Khaing said that this meeting is organized to discuss and give suggestion and compile the work guideline regarding with better cooperation between the Tatmataw and the Ministries in the natural disaster preparedness, response and rehabilitation as the coordination workforce between Tatmataw and the Ministries to respond the natural disaster.

Although Myanmar stands at stage-79 according to the World Risk Report 2021, it is at the 21 of the list of countries which are prone to the damage and loss due to the climate change according to the Global Climate Risk Index 2021 Survey. At the time of natural disaster, in the cooperation of the stakeholder for the rapid response and emergency communication process, the cooperation between the civil –military cooperation is paramount important.

The coordination workforce between Tatmataw and the Ministries to respond the natural disaster was formed on 3rd March in 2022 under the leading of the Ministry of Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement by taking guidance on the advices from the “Civil Military Coordination Workshop on Disaster Management” Workshop.

Next, the deputy minister U Aung Tun Khaing and permanent secretary of the Ministry of Defense Brigadier General Aung Kyaw Hoe discussed the matters on the cooperation between Tatmataw and the Ministries to respond the natural disaster. Afterward, the leader of workforce and members took part in the coordinated discussion including drafting Standard Operation Procedure and national level Simulation Exercise etc.
