





The National Committee on the Rights of the Child held its meeting 1/2022 in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.
At the event, Chair of the Committee Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khine said that Myanmar became a member of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child- UNCRC on 15th August 1991.
To carry out effectively the rights of children, the Law on the rights of children are under reviewing again and also arrangements are made to amend the necessary sector to protect perfectly more the interests and rights of the children.
The Union Minister also explained about providing assistance for children depending on their needs, supporting social and psychological affairs to children, arrangement for re-unity with their families and providing to other necessary requirements, helping in solving the cases of children by the Department of Social Welfare and conducting awarness on the child rights at the schools in regions and states.
The Union Minister urged members of the committee and officials to strive for getting equal rights for the children as well as in education and health sectors.
Then, the Vice Chairman of the Committee Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, the Director General and officials reported on implementation for the child rights, caring of children at the Parahita Gayhars and progress of the decisions of 1/2021 meeting, The meeting then ended with a concluding remark by the Union Minister.
