





The ceremony of introducing Guidelines on WASH in Health Care Facilities was held at the Ministry of Health, Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on August 22 with Hybrid system.
First, the Union Minister Dr. Thet Khaing Win said that it’s undertaking to fulfill the sustainable development goals including access of clean drinking water and sanitation for all and the goals of Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan (MSDP) 2018-2030).
The national strategy (2016-2030) with regard to access water for rural areas, schools, hospitals and medical dispensers, clean environment and personal hygiene are to be implemented with the collaboration of ministry of health and relevant ministries.
According to the global report (2020) regarding with the accessibility of water in hospitals, clinics, environmental sanitation and personal hygiene, as the one-fourth of health facilities cannot access sufficient water, the 1.8 billion people including health workers and patients are facing the risks of water-borne infectious diseases.
About 10% of health facilities, hospitals and clinics cannot access the cleaning service. Among them, one in three is lack of hand hygiene stations etc. Next, the director of public health department Dr. Kay Khaing Aye gave overall clarification on the work guidelines.
Afterward, the union minister and officials looked round the exhibition booths regarding with the accessibility of water in hospitals, clinics, environmental sanitation and personal hygiene, it’s reported.
