Chenshan Botanical Garden opens its annual exhibition

In the hot summer, Shanghai Chen Shan Botanical Garden creates a cool world. The Chenshan Botanical Garden in Songjiang District opened its annual exhibition of waterlilies from 19th August where over 300 varieties are on display.

Yellow, purple, red and white waterlilies line the entrance to the garden as well as tanks filled with goldfish reminiscent of French painter. The exhibition also features some new species cultivated at Chenshan Botanical Garden which have won prizes at the 10th China Flower Expo on Chongming Island last year.

Moving to the scenic waterlily area, more than 100 varieties of water lilies are presented on the river. The tropical waterlily area is located in the mine pit section. The exhibition has five chapters and allows visitors to see the flowers placed within water tanks and in ponds across the garden.

The blooming period of waterlilies lasts until mid to late September. This is the seventh consecutive year the botanical garden has hosted the waterlily exhibition.
