A New Jersey community health organization is reporting strong demand for the monkeypox vaccine as cases of the virus continue to spread nationwide.
Dozens of people lined up at a vaccination center in Newark on Tuesday to be immunized. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services this week doubled the number of monkeypox vaccine doses it would make available. 442,000 doses will be available for order by state, local and territorial health departments. As of Tuesday afternoon, the New Jersey Department of Heath says 335 cases of the virus have been reported statewide, and more than 6,500 people have been vaccinated.
