









Under Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2020), the food innovation center was launched in conjunction with opening of training course on value-added dried fruit product manufacturing process in Yangon, Monday.
Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Chinese Minister Counsellor Mr. Zheng Zhihang and Director General of the Department of Research and Innovation formally opened the food innovation center and viewed around production of food stuff with machines and instructed the needs.
55 trainees from Myanmar are attending the training course on value-added dried fruit product manufacturing process and Chinese experts will conduct the course from 15th to 18th August through the virtual mode.
Likewise, experts from the Department of Research and Innovation conducted practical works of drying process by using microwave technique, advanced drying with hot air and cooling system.
In the future, the food innovation center will support micro, small and medium enterprise entrepreneurs and researchers from universities by testing practically advanced fruit drying process.
This project will also support to develop new products from agricultural produces in Myanmar and MSMEs entrepreneurs will have opportunities to produce pilot scale at the center for distributing their new products to the market.
