Concerning rumors and fake news that currently happen about raising fuel prices in some places of the country, fuel shortages in some places and not selling of the fuel by some filling-stations in rural areas, leader of SAC Information Team Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun responded that the rumours on fuel shortage were spread on social media from 13th August.
The rumours have forced to panic buying at regular filling stations and the fuel stations of big companies in Mandalay in the morning and evening of 14th August. Some filling stations sold fuel limitation and some said running out of fuel.
Due to the panic buying, there was temporary fuel shortage at the interval time and after spreading rumours, this matter happened. The Maj-Gen said that people should not be worried about the fuel.
The fuel carrying fuel oil and diesel docked at Thilawa port on Sunday. On 15th August today, 4 fuel vessels were unloading about 60,000 tonnes of Octane 92, 95 and premium diesels.
On the 18th, about 20,000 tonnes of fuel will be imported and about 23,000 tonnes of fuel on 19th August. Later, more 12 fuel vessels will be arrived.
Now, the global fuel prices are so high but the government is reducing the tax on fuel. If compared with the fuel prices in neighbouring countries, the fuel price in Myanmar is lower than that nations.
The Maj-Gen said people not to believe the rumors and the government has the reserve fuel oil and they are emphasizing on transportation, food and clothing of the people.
