Karachi fireworks ahead of Independence Day

Thousands of people took to the streets in Karachi on Saturday night to celebrate the independence of Pakistan on August 14, dancing to songs, carrying flags and blowing horns. The country achieved independence and was declared a sovereign state following the end of British rule in 1947.
A fireworks show was organized near the mausoleum of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of the nation. Speaking on the occasion, the former mayor of the city Dr Farooq Sattar said the country "needs unity and young leadership. These are my messages for the nation.
