President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden are returning to Washington after spending Monday witnessing the damage from deadly and devastating storms that have resulted in the worst flooding in Kentucky's history.
Joe Biden, U.S. President said " I think it was a good day. We're going to get a lot done down in Kentucky. I think they are going to be able to be in good shape. And the governor is really working with a real bipartisan effort down there. I'm very hopeful. Very hopeful.”
At least 37 people have died since last month's deluge, which dropped 8 to 10-1/2 inches of rain in only 48 hours. The president said the nation has an obligation to help all its people, declaring the federal government would provide support until residents were back on their feet. Monday's trip is Biden's second to the state since taking office last year.
