NATO leaders begin summit sessions in Madrid

NATO leaders were greeted by the alliance's secretary-general and the Spanish prime minister ahead of their meeting during a Madrid summit on Wednesday.
The meeting will deal with the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine and other defence threats. Members of the alliance have also sent billions in military and civilian aid to Ukraine. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez described Sweden's and Finland's entry into NATO, and Turkey's agreement on that, "an important milestone" that will make NATO "stronger".
