Pine Land: Kalaw To Be Established As A Hilly Resort Town

Kalaw in Shan State (South) is located on the hilly region, and is famous as Pine land since the town has lots of Pine trees.

In 2022-2023 fiscal year, officials plan to implement the town as the city of tourism, and tender bidding process in underway. The Shan State Government allotted the 1 billion budget estimation for implementing the project.

Town’s upgrade plans are in progress which include to turn the city as a clean and pleasant town. Moreover, visitors can observe the cultures, natural beauties and businesses of local people.

Economic Minister, Shan State Government, Khun Thein Maung said “We need to upgrade the public parks,set up the public toilets at parking lots along the motor ways and also install the direction signboards for the foreigners. For now, we are scheduling the plans with committee members and will choose the suitable one. At present, local visitors visit to Kalaw and the most visiting places are Inlay, Pindaya and Kakku. We are undertaking the procedures to establish the city as the Pine land, and plans are underway to plant Peacock Flowers and Cherry trees.” 

Currently, only local visitors visit to Kalaw and visitors can observe the processes of township developments and traditional foods. Once the project was completed for establishing Kalaw as a Hilly Resort Town, it could become one of the tourist attraction places for foreign visitors.a
