Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro arrived in Turkey on Tuesday as part of an overseas trip to allies’ countries after the U.S. decision to exclude his country from this week's Summit of the Americas.

Maduro said that he will seek to deepen the "ties of brotherhood, cooperation and union of our peoples and he will continue to other countries in the Eurasian region after Turkey. Maduro has traveled to Turkey on several occasions, one of them to witness the swearing-in of the Turkish president after his re-election in July 2018. The start of the tour coincides with the opening of the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles, a meeting of regional leaders taking place from June 7 and 10.
