Embattled British Prime Minister Boris Johnson survived a no-confidence vote on Monday.

Johnson won the backing of 211 out of 359 Conservative lawmakers in the secret ballot. Johnson put a positive spin on what he described as a "very good result for politics and for the country."

Boris Johnson, UK Prime Minister said "I think this is a very good result for the politics and for the country. I do just in this sense, I think it's a convincing result, a decisive result. And what it means is that as a government, we can move on and focus on the stuff that I think really matters to people."

The prime minister's winning margin was less than that secured by his predecessor Theresa May in a similar vote in December 2018. She was forced to resign six months later.
