COVID-19 Control: Quarantine measures for returnees by flights

Myanmar has resumed operations of international flights from 17th April. The Ministry of Health has undertaken quarantine measures for the returnees by the relief flights and international airlines for the COVID-19 prevention and control measures.

Under the supervision of the Yangon Region Government, four quarantine centers organized by the District and Township COVID-19 Control and Response Committees and three Parahita quarantine centers in monasteries have been opened for quarantine measures and there are no private quarantine centers that are operated without government supervision.

Dr. Than NaingSoe, Director, Public Health Department said "There are four quarantine centers under the supervision of the Yangon Region Government. These centers are situated at Yawmingyi center at HlaingThayar Township, Yoma Center at Dagon SeikkanTownship, Hlaing center at Haling township, HtaukKyant Center at Mingalardon township and other Parahita quarantine centers are located in Mingaladon and HleguTownships. The returnees by relief flights have to be quarantined. RT PCR tests are provided to them free of charges."

If the returnees have any other health problem in addition to COVID-19 while living in the center, officials will be transferred them to relevant hospitals.If the passengers returned by international flights have financial problems to conduct hotel quarantine, they will be sent to the quarantine center arranged by the concerned department in cooperation with YRTA.
