Animal rescuers braved ongoing fighting on Wednesday to evacuate animals from a farm near Kyiv. Rescuers said the animals from the farm in the village of Yasnohorodka, some 50 kilometres west of the capital, escaped their enclosures during days of conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The farm served as a recreation centre for visitors and many children would spend time seeing yaks, ponies and ostriches up close. Rescuers said they loaded five trucks with animals and will relocate them to a wildlife centre in Kyiv. They said some still remain at large scattered in nearby forests.
