Franchisees keep their McDonald's open in Russia

Despite the temporary departure of McDonald's restaurants from Russia, diners are still able to buy their fast food because a number of outlets owned by franchisees remain open.

According to Russian media, while the majority of McDonald's stores in Russia are operated by the fast food company, over one hundred restaurants remain open as some franchisees have refused to close their outlets. Some of them are located in railway stations and airports. Many diners were delighted to still be able to get their meals there. The fast-food chain recently announced it temporarily closed 850 locations in Russia amid Western sanctions imposed following Russia's invasion of neighbouring Ukraine.
