Marathoners in Warsaw run for peace in Ukraine

Organizers of Sunday's half marathon in Warsaw dubbed this year's race 'Warsaw Half-Marathon of Peace' and dedicated the event to those forced to flee Ukraine. Over 7-thousand people took part with some running to raise money for Ukrainian refugee children.

Organizers also donated part of the proceeds to support Polish humanitarian action, as well as fundraising for three hospitals, including a children's hospital, in western Ukraine. Emanuel Giniki Gisamoda from Tanzania won the men's event and set an event record of 01:00:30, while Ethiopia's Tiruye Mesfin Aman ran the event's fastest-ever women's time of 1:08:55.
