
Thousands of NATO troops are taking part in military exercises across Norway to test the ability of the alliance to operate in cold-weather conditions. The 'Cold Response 22' drill seeks to enhance Norway's defensive capabilities against external threats.It involves 27 nations — NATO allies and partners — with some 30,000 troops, 50 warships and more than 200 planes taking part.
As part of the exercise, an air refueling tanker set off from the German city of Cologne on Tuesday.Flying over Norway, crew members aboard the Airbus A330 delivered fuel to Norwegian F-35 fighter jets and Swedish Gripen planes, in an air-to-air refueling drill.Cold Response 22 runs between March 14 and April 1.
