A light show was displayed on the bridge for the inauguration on Friday of a massive suspension bridge over the Dardanelles Strait connecting the European and Asian shores of the waterway.

The President of Turkey, South Korea's prime minister and other high-ranking officials inaugurated the "1915 Canakkale Bridge". With a 2,023-metre span between its towers, it becomes the world's longest suspension bridge.

It connects the town of Gelibolu, located on the European side of the northwestern province of Canakkale, with the town of Lapseki on the Asian side. The "1915 Canakkale Bridge" was constructed at a 2.7 billion US dollars cost.

The bridge, which was built by a consortium of Turkish and South Korean companies, would strengthen the bonds between Turkey and South Korea.
