Hundreds of Chileans demonstrated on Saturday against Covid-19 vaccines imposed by the authorities in an attempt to curb the pandemic. Carrying banners with slogans referring to the pandemic as a fraud, the protesters complained about the restriction measures taken by the government.

The demonstrators held placards blaming the United Nations and the pharmaceutical companies for the pandemic. Chile has some of the strongest restrictions, with mandatory masks indoors and outdoors, a mobility pass for access to certain spaces and activities, and strict protocols for foreign tourists.

The vaccine pass allows vaccinated people to dine inside restaurants, take part in larger-scale events, and - from Monday - travel abroad if they test negative for the virus.
