Daria Maltseva, a mother to 13-month-old Tatiana, has begun to feel the pinch of rising prices amid sweeping economic sanctions imposed on Russia.
The hefty shopping list of items needed for an infant, from baby food to diapers to toys, presents a daunting economic burden for Maltseva who finds herself struggling to make ends meet while inflation in Russia soars and the value of ruble melts.
The prices for some baby goods have increased two-fold. Western sanctions slapped onto Russia in response to its military operation in Ukraine have delivered a major blow to the Russian economy and multinational corporations of all fields have either suspended operations or pulled out of the country.
The bleak economic outlook forced Russian President Vladimir Putin to announce earlier this week a series of new economic aid packages to Russian citizens and businesses in need.
