ZSL London Zoo annual stocktake underway

ZSL London Zoo has begun its annual stocktake of its animal residents. The yearly task sees zookeepers tally up every creature currently at the Zoo, which is home to more than 400 species.

The audit, which takes keepers almost a week to complete, is shared with other zoos around the world to help with conservation efforts for endangered species.  2021 saw the London attraction welcome some new arrivals, including Asiatic lioness Arya in April, three newly hatched snappy big-headed turtles and in December Sumatran tigress Gaysha gave birth to a tiny cub.
