British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the appointment of the UK's foreign secretary on Sunday to become the country's lead negotiator with the European Union, after long-time ally David Frost resigned.

UK Foreign Secretary, Liz Truss said "Our prime minister (Boris Johnson) has done a fantastic job first of all of delivering Brexit which was a priority for the British people, but also helping us deal with COVID. We were one of the first countries to roll out the vaccine. It's a fact of ingenuity and enterprise that we've saw the successful development of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine and I think the British public understand that."

Liz Truss will have ministerial responsibility with the EU and will lead negotiations to resolve problems arising from provisions of the Brexit agreement covering trade with Northern Ireland.
