Thousands of tones of knock-off clothing from Europe and the US are being piled up in a mass dump of unwanted fast-fashions in the remote vastness of Chile's Atacama Desert on Monday. A clandestine giant dump emerges from the hills of Atacama Desert because tons of discarded clothes are left behind by local merchants.

The port of Iquique, in the far north of Chile, is the duty-free zone that receives tons of used clothing bought by traders. In the process of choosing the most attractive garments for sale, those small traders discard in that huge rubbish dump if they feel the garments will not be to the taste of their buyers. According to local authorities, the dump is not authorized and they are working for its definitive closure.
