The chimney of the former Longannet Power Station in Fife was demolished by a controlled explosion on Thursday. The 600ft chimney was the largest free-standing structure in Scotland and was considered a regional landmark.

Scottish Power lit up the structure and projected the slogan, "Make Coal History" on Wednesday evening ahead of its demolition.  Other structures at the site had already been previously demolished.

Longannet, which was once the largest coal-fired power station in Europe, began generating electricity in 1970 and produced Scotland's last coal-fired energy until it's closure in 2016.
