Sao Paulo hails success of virus jabs as cases fall

Sao Paulo state, in Southeastern Brazil has registered a day with zero deaths from COVID-19 for the first time since March 2020. The state government made the announcement on its website Tuesday morning, saying "it's a triumph of science, the vaccine gives life."

Statement Governor Joao Doria also declared Sao Paulo was the most-vaccinated state in the country. Brazil has fully vaccinated 57.2% of the population, with another 17.7% receiving at least one dose, according to World Health Organization figures, and continues to administer millions of vaccines does per day.
