New United Nations assembly president sworn in

Abdulla Shahid was sworn in as the president of the 76th United Nations General Assembly session on Tuesday in New York.

The Maldivian Foreign Minister replaced the outgoing assembly president Volkan Bozki, the former Chairman of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee and EU Affairs minister of Turkey. Shahid said he intended to send a message of hope to a world troubled by the pandemic, climate change and instability.
