Composer, arranger and conductor Adalberto Alvarez died on Wednesday of complications from COVID-19 at the age of 72.

EGREM, the Cuban state-owned recording studio, reported that the artist died of multiple organ failure caused by complications of pneumonia derived from the new coronavirus. Last week, it was made public that Alvarez was hospitalized and suffering from COVID.

He was an arranger for his father's orchestra called "Avance Juvenil." He was the founder of two of the most successful Cuban orchestras:"Son 14" and "Adalberto Álvarez y su Son."
