Rescuers from the humanitarian ship Ocean Viking evacuated 67 people from a packed wooden boat in the Mediterranean Sea near Italy on Sunday.  The SOS-Mediterranee organization was concerned the overcrowded boat could capsize and the crews urged the migrants to remain calm and put on life jackets. Among the 67 rescued were four women, one child and 20 unaccompanied minors. The Ocean Viking has conducted a series of operations over the past few days and now has over 200 migrants on board. According to the Italian Interior Ministry, over 20,854 people have arrived by sea in Italy in 2021, a sharp rise from the 7,313 arrivals in 2020.
