Tropical Storm Elsa was downgraded from a Category 1 hurricane on Saturday but not before battering several island nations in the eastern Caribbean. In the southwest of the Dominican Republic, the storm claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy who died when a wall collapsed and crushed him. A 75-year-old woman was also killed in extreme weather. Elsa is now hitting southern Haiti and is expected to arrive at Cuba's southern-most coast by Sunday morning and cross along a large portion of the island, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami. The long-term forecast track shows it heading toward Florida as a tropical storm by Tuesday morning. Elsa was the first hurricane of the Atlantic season and the earliest fifth-named storm on record.
