
The Union Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar held a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday.
Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing addressed the meeting, saying that after assuming the state duties by Tatmadaw, the Union Ministers have been appointed to carry out executive and administrative sectors of the government.
The Senior General expressed his belief that the currently appointed Ministers could perform their assigned tasks by utilizing their experience and resource fullness for the State. The government body with collective leadership could bring better results so that every ministry should take responsibilities for their respective tasks.
With the policy to lead the nation through collective consultation, the government will carry out and further strengthen good things after taking lessons from the nation’s experience during the period two democratic governments as well as the international experiences.
Currently, the government received both positive and negative response from the people and international community regarding the international relations, the government will keep on practicing foreign policies of Myanmar, "independent, active, and non-aligned foreign policy”. In order to move forward the democratization process with pragmatic situation, Myanmar will firmly stand on Five Principals of Peaceful Co-existence while keeping friendly ties with world nations.
Concerning the election, the Commander-in-Chief said that the voting and voter list errors will be exposed. The new Union Election Commission will be reformed and measures will be undertaken. In regard with the election and the voting list scrutinizing, the statements of Tatmadaw have the strong fact.
The statements were issued to carry out clearly when Tatmadaw started to know the voter list errors but there was no response from the former Election Commission. The scrutinizing was made in 314 townships. In regard with this matter, measures will be undertaken according to the law after the results were checked with rightful persons.
In making voter lists, it needs to be carried out for the correct population lists depending on 2014 census and 2019 pilot census from the Ministry of Labour, Population and Immigration. The Senior General stressed on presentation of national registration cards for those who do not have NRCs, especially those ethnic people who have not received NRCs.
Relating the COVID-19 prevention and Control, the prevention and containment measures will continue to accelerate. In regard with the disease prevention, the issued orders are official until before issuing the amendment. The vaccination tasks will be carried out in line with the rules.
He also emphasized on arrival of vaccines ordered from abroad and arrangement for repatriation of Myanmar citizens abroad amidst COVID-19 pandemic. He called for the Ministry of Health and Sports but also the relevant ministries to cooperate in the tasks and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation to cooperate in employment for odd-job workers, arrangement for re-operating the suspended factories in line with COVID-19 guidelines and public awareness on COVID-19 by the Ministry of Information.
He also discussed on international relations, measures for the correct census for re-holding the election, reopening of pagodas and temples in line with COVID-19 guidelines by the relevant ministries, repatriation of Myanmar citizens abroad and resuming operation for hotel industries.
The Union Ministers reported on future plans of the Ministries and in response to the reports, the Commander-in-Chief gave supplementary reports.
