Migratory Birds: Various Species of Birds winter at Meikhitla Lake

Meikhtila Lake is one of the wetland areas in Myanmar where various species of migratory birds use to spend their winter annually.

These migratory birds arrived there starting the first week of December.

During their habitat, the bird lovers came to the areas for bird watching as a recreational activity while having photo shooting.

Bird Watcher, Tin Thein said "We use to document the migratory birds which came here for winter shelter.
Most of them can be seen near Pauk Chaung Circular Road and DoeKwinGyin village in southern lake. And also near OhnHnePaw and KalamaKyun Villages in northern lake."

It is learnt that there are nine flyways that use to take by the migratory birds in the world.

According to Biodiversity and Nature Conservation Association, more than 300 species flock to winter in Myanmar each year on two routes, the East Asian-Australasian Flyway and the Central Asian Flyway.

Bird Watcher, Swe Maung said "There are many species of migratory birds that used to take shelter during winter in Meikhtila. Most of them are Ibis and Brahminy Duck.
They use to habitat at south and north lakes of Meikhtila. Every winter, we came here to take photos of these migratory birds as a recreational activity."

Every year, the migratory birds use to arrived Meikhtila around November and December. They use to fly back by the end of February and early March.
