Selected Finalists: Finalists Of 5th Memory Int’l Film Festival Announced

The selected finalists of the 5th Memory International Film Festival 2020 were announced through online, hosted by Myanmar Script Fund (MSF) on Monday.

Thefinalists were announced under two sessions; MSF original and MSF advanced at the press conference.

Co-founder of Memory Film FestivalSeverineWemaere gave a welcome speech and explained about the main focus of MSF at the virtual event. MSF provides combination of coaching and international exposure. The finalists will be able to work in group or individually in the project with new more stakeholders, according to the co-founder of Memory Film Festival.

Co-founder, Memory Film Festival, Ms. Severine Wemaere said “Myanmar Script Fund focus on feature learned- feature film. So no documentary, no short movies. It has been a very first stage of the film product has the script. You know the film bone starts with the idea. And they become the script. The script gonna be the core of the project. … And the script is very crucial and backbone of the project.’’

The patron of the Memory of the film festival said MSF has energized independent film making industry with the annual challenge and its support is valuable and has positive impact on the film industry in Myanmar.

Patron, Memory Film Festival, Grace Swe Zin Htaik said “In five years, tremendous progress has made with unprecedented selection of Myanmar film projects in international festivals. I am delighted that Myanmar cinema is once again visible on the international scene especially this year which is also the centenary of Cinema in our country.”

MSF have two sections, MSF original and MSF advance. MSF original is created with the new project and new participant. The nominated finalists will face the competition that offers three awards. The six finalists were selected each for MSF original and MSF advance this year.

Multiple top-notch international film industry experts participated in the 5th edition of MSF from France, Switzerland, Europe and Korea. The French Ambassador to Myanmar, Ambassador of Switzerland and EU Ambassador to   Myanmar also took part in the virtual event.

The sixty second video of MEMORY film festival in Yangon was shared at the event. The opening ceremony will be held on 30thNovember and the awarding ceremony will be on the 9thDecember.
