As coronavirus cases surge, Yangon unveils a new 'Happy COVID Centre' with gym facilities and a library, in a bid to keep those who have tested positive in a good mental state.

Myanmar Expo Hall at Fortune Plaza in Thaketa township has been set up to use as COVID-19 Treatment Center to admit the patients.

The setting up works and additional facilities have been carried out by the volunteers from Myanmar Expo, Fortune Plaza and We Love Yangon Charity organization as well as the staff from Yangon City Development Council (YCDC), in order to complete on time and admit the infected patients as soon as possible.

Volunteer, We Love Yangon, Mg Mg Aye said "We added some gym machines for relaxation and stress release.
A book corner and food and snacks are provided as usual like in other centers. We also decorated it with plants to give green vibes and make the rooms colourful..... We created an atmosphere that will motivate patients when they arrive.
We want them to be motivated."

Arrangements will be made to provide all the necessities including meals and medicines in cooperation with Yangon Region COVID-19 Control and Coordinating Committee and We Love Yangon.

Volunteer, We Love Yangon, Thazin Myint Kyu said "I’m very happy to see what we've done here.
We want patients to feel they can relax and be comfortable at the centre when they're here. That's why we've called it 'Happy COVID Center'.
When patients enter this centre, we don’t want them to have the feeling like they're in a hospital and aren't well."

Once the admission of patients commenced, the Ministry of Health and Sport and Yangon Region COVID-19 Control and Coordinating Committee will take care for treatment and health care services.
