RABIES VACCINE: FREE VACCINATION CONDUCTED AT WAWLAYMYAING TOWNSHIP

In commemoration of the World Rabies Day, which falls on the 28th September this year, free vaccination of anti-rabies vaccine was conducted at Wawlaymyaing Township in Myawaddy District of Kayin State.

According to the statics from the Ministry of Health and Sports, there are about 3.8 million dogs in Myanmar.
From average range of 150,000 to 200,000 people suffered from dog bites every year.

About 50 dogs and cats at Wawlaymyaing Township has been vaccinated with anti-rabies vaccine, the officials from the department of township livestock breeding and veterinary said.

Deputy Head, Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department, Dr. Saw Myo Myint Thu said "In commemoration of the World Rabies day, we vaccinated about 50 dogs and cats in WawlayMyaing Township with anti-rabies vaccine free.
We also educated the people about the risk of rabies, the symptoms, as well as about the vaccines followed by the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Sports."

The free vaccination measure was conducted by the head of the township department of livestock breeding and veterinary together with the staffs from the department of the Wawlaymyaing township, it’s learnt.
