COVID-19 Report: Ministry Reports 16 New COVID-19 Cases at 8 A.M. on August 22

Ministry of Health and Sports at 8 a.m. on Saturday reported 16 new COVID-19 cases after testing 645 lab specimens. All the new patients are residents of Sittwe of Rakhine State.

COVID-19 cases in Myanmar have now reached 435 with 6 deaths. While 337 patients have recovered from the disease, 331 of them have been discharged from the hospitals and put under quarantine.

The World’s worst-hit countries are the United States of America, Brazil, India, Russian Federation, South Africa, Peru, Mexico, Colombia and Chile, according to the World Health Organization.

Globally, as of 6:48pm CEST, 21 August 2020, there have been over 22.53 million confirmed cases of COVID-19, including over 789,000 deaths, reported to WHO.

Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people and those with underlying medical problems are more likely to develop serious illness.
