Chinese mainland reports 22 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday

Chinese health authority said on Thursday that 22 new COVID-19 cases were reported on the Chinese mainland on Wednesday, with 19 being domestically transmitted cases. No new death was reported. Three new suspected cases were reported on the day. The existing number of confirmed imported cases was 76.

The mainland had reported a total of 2,023 imported cases with zero death. A total of 83,729 confirmed cases had been reported. The National Health Commission said that 31 new asymptomatic cases of infection with the novel coronavirus were also reported on the mainland, including seven imported from overseas. And 16 asymptomatic cases were re-categorized as a confirmed case. There were a total of 176 asymptomatic cases including 89 imported ones who were still undergoing medical observation, according to the commission. Moreover, 2,131 confirmed cases with 14 deaths had been reported in Hong Kong, 46 confirmed cases in Macao, and 455 in the Taiwan region including seven deaths.
