New Zealand's conservative National Party have elected Judith collins to run against Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern in the September general election. The Nationals, the main opposition party, named Collins following the surprise resignation of Todd Muller on Tuesday after over 50 days in the role. Muller, who became opposition leader in May, resigned citing health reasons and said he wanted to spend more time with his family. Collins, an admirer of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, has a tough job on her hands as she needs to encourage voters to go against Ardern, who in one poll was named the country's most popular prime minister in a century. Recent opinion polls have predicted that Labor could govern on its own, without needing a coalition, helped by the soaring popularity of Ardern.
