Efforts For Peace: Peace & Security Review 2020 By MIPS

Myanmar Institute for Peace and Security (MIPS) organized its annual Peace & Security Review 2020 event in Yangon on the 7th of July.

The Annual Peace and Security Review 2020 is a comprehensive overview of Myanmar’s peace and security landscape with inside information and in-depth analysis to inform and nudge the country one step closer towards peace.  

Executive Director, Myanmar Institute for Peace and Security, Dr. Min Zaw Oo said “We collected data and review the condition of peace and security in Myanmar based on the data. We just report the information and data that we collected. The data was generated by the sources from social media including news website and newspaper. Also, our teams report the ground situation. We scrutinize all data that we get and review the condition.”

The Annual peace and Security Review 2020 was complied by using the information and data of Township-based Conflict Monitoring System (TCMS), it’s learnt.

Senior Research Manager, Myanmar Institute for Peace and Security, Ne Lynn Aung said “In the annual review, we researched into major clashes across the country during these years and review the condition and sources of clashes. We also highlight impact of the conflicts on civilians and human rights situation in the report. The Review will help the people in the peace and security field for peace process.” 

Ambassadors to Myanmar, high-level officials, scholars and experts in the peace and security field attended the event and discussed major peace and conflict trends that define Myanmar’s peace process and security landscape in 2019 and the beginning of 2020.
