in central Peru, days of intense rain has caused rivers to overflow and triggered mudslides, leaving hundreds of residents homeless and causing at least 200 heads of cattle to die, according to authorities. Officials estimate at least 400 people have been left homeless and 1500 hectares of fields have been damaged. A dramatic mudslide over 5 miles of highway have left areas cut off. The National Institute of Civil Defense reports that 28 people have died and over 1,000 emergencies have been registered since the rainy season began in September.
