ACE Awards Ceremony: AMCHAM CSR Excellence Ceremony Along With Thanksgiving Luncheon

The 2019 AMCHAM CSR Excellence (ACE) Ceremony was held along with a Thanksgiving Luncheon in Yangon on Tuesday.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar (AMCHAM Myanmar) annually awards the member companies for exemplary CSR programs since 2015. The ACE recognition program is to encourage responsible investment in Myanmar and the member companies create sustainable economic and social benefits in the local communities where they operate.

Vice President, American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar, Jonathan Perry said “Specifically, we recognize companies that demonstrate key partnership with Myanmar, their Social Responsibility Program, the measurable results of those programs, as well as their ability to demonstrate long-term sustainable business and model for that here in Myanmar.”

The ACE recognition is for the applicants’ CSR program through five categories such as overall integration of CSR programming and value creation, sustainability of programming, measurability of results and reporting, communications of CSR programming and partnerships. This year, the ACE awards ceremony recognized 17 companies. 2019 marks the first year of Gold Status distinction recipients. 5 companies received ACE Gold status distinction and 2 companies received Silver status distinction. The 17 companies demonstrated excellence CSR activities in specific programs including health, education, community infrastructure, vocational training, environmental protection and capacity building.

Vice President, American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar, Jonathan Perry said “American business in Myanmar can be foundation for sustainable and ethical business here and to demonstrate that we have a long-term partnership with the country Myanmar and that we can be here for sustainable growth and we can provide the benefit, share benefit with the people of Myanmar as well as the companies here.” 

Currently, more than 180 companies employing over 20,000 Myanmar nationals have joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar.
