A businessman in Kandahar province of Afghanistan has invested $300,000 to establish a zoo aimed at preventing the extinction of rare birds and animals.

The zoo currently houses 50 endangered species whose populations are critically declining.

According to zoo officials, after successful breeding, the animals and birds will be sold for prices ranging from 10 to 4 million afghanis.

There is growing interest from buyers in Arab countries, who are keen to acquire these rare species. The zoo manager said the primary goal of the zoo is to breed the rare animals, while another key objective is to provide a recreational space for the youths.
