Zelenskyy expects 'historic' Cyprus EU Council presidency that may benefit Ukraine

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy held a meeting in Kyiv with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides. The last visit by a Cypriot president to Ukraine took place ten years ago.

During the talks, Zelenskyy highlighted the visit as a clear sign of Cyprus’s support for Ukraine and expressed his country’s readiness to continue working closely with Cyprus for the benefit of both nations and the wider European community.

The leaders discussed a joint European agenda, emphasising the need for Europe to assume a stronger global role. Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine has provided a unifying impetus for Europe and expressed confidence that the European community would continue to support Ukraine in achieving peace and ensuring long-term security.
