Ukrainian President Zelenskyy confirmed the intent to tighten control of state-owned companies amid an unfolding graft scandal in the energy sector. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and another entity announced on Monday the start of an investigation into the allegations.

The graft allegedly involves around 100 million dollars in illicit funds that were received mainly in connection with contracts of Energoatom, Ukraine's state nuclear power company. Zelenskyy requested the dismissals of the justice and energy ministers based on these allegations. Local media reports said an entrepreneur who is a long-time acquaintance of Zelenskyy is also under investigation.
