Zelenskyy and wife, Olena, open virtual summit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his wife Olena Zelenska opened the Second Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv on Saturday. The summit convened with virtual attendees from around the world seeking to help with the reconstruction effort in Ukraine when the war with Russia ends.

During the summit, Zelenskyy expressed his hope for peace in Ukraine. He also said that Ukraine24, a global fundraising initiative collecting charitable donations in support of Ukraine, has already raised more than 137 million US $. Zelenska said 358 children have died in the war, but that this number could rise. Zelenska asked the audience to observe a minute of silence in memory of the Ukrainian victims of war.
